New Orleans Rowing Club proudly represented Louisiana at the Halifax Summer Regatta in Daytona Beach, FL. Both Junior rowers and Master rowers raced at the event, and NORC even managed to bring home some hardware!

After two successful months of the Junior Summer program, the NORC high school athletes were ready for their first race. They fought through the nerves, and rough ocean water, and made their coaches proud. The conditions were definitely unfamiliar, with wakes and currents that we do not see on our peaceful Bayou St. John, but the Juniors did a great job adapting to the conditions and racing hard.

A big congrats to Sam Tipton, who won gold in both the Junior Novice Men's 1x and the Men's Junior 1x. And congrats the the Master rowers who also placed in their events (Joan Landry with silver in the Novice Women's 1x, Hannah Walker with silver in the Women's Open 1x, John Huppi and Michael Merwin with silver in the Men's Masters 2x, and Hannah Walker and John Huppi with Bronze in the Mixed Open 2x). And of course a big thank you to everyone who came to the regatta and everyone who cheered us on from afar.
