Visiting Rowers
Yes, the New Orleans Rowing Club welcomes visiting rowers throughout the year. We get a large number of requests, often up to 1-2 visitors per week, so please review all of the following information and do complete the Visitor Rower Request Form. We also advise printing this page so that you can review information prior to your trip.

Visiting rowers must be experienced and must attend one of the designate club practices. Sweep-only rowers can only attend Saturday and Sunday practices. All weekday visitors must be skilled with small boat sculling (singles & doubles).

Club practices are: Weekdays (5:30-7:00am and 7:00-8:30am), Saturday (7:000-8:30am), and Sunday (7:00-8:30am). Please plan to arrive 5-10 minutes prior. Boat lineups and workouts will be determined on the dock prior to launching.

The boathouse is outdoors and does not have changing or bathroom facilities, please come ready to row.

The boathouse is located at 5958 St. Bernard Avenue in the Gentilly neighborhood. This is about a 5-10 minutes drive from downtown New Orleans. The address above is specifically for the Vista Shores Assisted Living Facility, a 3-story multifamily building we share the property with. When arriving, please do not enter the building and instead use the sidewalks to walk to the backside of the property where our boathouse is located. There are no locker rooms or restrooms at the boathouse.

If arriving by car, please park on Soldiers Street located on the north-side of Vista Shores. Do not park in the Vista Shores designated parking lot.

Visiting rowers can pay the weekly membership fee of $25. This can be made payable through the PayPal on our website.

If you are planning a large group of visitors (4 or more), please make note in the comment section on the visitor form. We may be able to make accommodations for additional practice times.

The visitor will be responsible for replacement or cost of repairs for damage to club boats and/or equipment.

All visiting rowers must review the following handbook, with special attention to the course traffic pattern. Additionally, all visiting rowers must complete the following waiver and present (signed) on day of.
